My motivation mostly comes from the subject matter in my work. I paint my family's history through photographs that I dug out of my Father's old things when he died and my Mother's photo albums from when she was a teenager.

I have been working on this series of paintings for two years and with each painting I try new things out. The excitement of each new piece and watching the evolution of the work from when I started until now is all it takes for me to continue on. Also, the fact that I just love to paint and create motivates me. I rarely sit idly around, in fact I hate it, so I utilize as much time as I can creating art, music or even knitting.  

I started at Arcadia University's painting course and after a year and a half I transferred to The Glasgow School of Art's painting and printmaking course. I graduated in 2008 with a BA(Hons) in fine art. I also won the Royal Glasgow Institute prize at my degree show based on my work.
