Dealer Announces UK art fair devoted entirely to Russian art

RUSSIAN ART FAIR TO BOW IN BRITAIN Not every art promoter is pulling in his horns. Art dealer Peter London of West-Eleven gallery has just announced plans to launch the first UK art fair devoted entirely to Russian art, from Fabergé jewels and Russian icons to Soviet Realism and contemporary art. The new Russian Art Fair, June 6-8, 2009, is timed to take place during the London auctions of Russian art, and is located in the ballroom of the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel.

A Show Goes Heavy on a Traditional Medium Yet Feels Fresh (US)
We all know how commemorative group shows work. They don't, for the most part, since the artworks are often hung randomly about a room. Not so with "Full Circle: Ten Years of Radius," at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. The guest curator, Regine Basha, from Arthouse in Austin, Tex., has made a valiant effort to group works by 14 alumni of Radius, an artist development program run by the museum and the Ridgefield Guild of Artists, by medium and subject.

Lowry works on sale at art fair (Gloucestershire, UK)
Two oil paintings by LS Lowry have gone on sale at an antiques fair for nearly £500,000. The two paintings are among 12 by the Salford artist worth a total of £1m, at the Westonbirt School Antiques and Fine Art Fair near Tetbury, Gloucestershire. One of the works, a busy street scene, is signed and dated 1953 and is being sold for £325,000. The second, a view of an industrial landscape in Salford, has a price tag of £150,000.
