NEW YORK.- The Whitney Museum of American Art announced today that Francesco Bonami will curate the 2010 Whitney Biennial, in collaboration with the Whitney's Gary Carrion-Murayari, who will be associate curator. This will be the 75th in the series of Whitney Annual and Biennial exhibitions inaugurated in 1932 by Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney. The next Biennial, the Museum's signature survey of contemporary American art, goes on view at the Whitney in March 2010. The list of selected artists will be announced in late 2009 or early 2010

HOUSTON, TX.- Eight major works by seven leading international contemporary artists will become part of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston permanent collection as a result of a landmark acquisition from The Chaney Family Collection, the museum announced today. Led by his wife, Jereann, and daughter, Holland, the initiative gives tribute to the memory of the late Robert H. Chaney, a longtime and generous supporter of the MFAH, who died in October. In addition to the donation of two major works by Damien Hirst and Chiho Aoshima, the MFAH has purchased six works with funds provided by the Caroline Wiess Law Accessions Endowment Fund. BALTIMORE, MD.- Today, Dec. 13, 2008, simultaneous exhibitions at the Walters Art Museum and the Contemporary Museum will celebrate the works of renowned photographer Dawoud Bey. At the Walters, Portraits Re/Examined: A Dawoud Bey Project will feature contemporary photographs by Bey juxtaposed with historic portraits from the museum's private collection. Dawoud Bey: Class Pictures, a companion exhibition of more than 40 of Bey's portraits, will be on view at the Contemporary Museum. Both exhibitions run through Saturday, Feb. 16, 2009.

In honor of its 75th anniversary, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art has launched a major, year-long initiative to collect significant works of art that will culminate in a celebratory exhibition in 2010. The initiative was announced Thursday evening during the Museum´s event A Sparkling Night: A Toast to Our 75th, when 11 early and important acquisitions were unveiled to a crowd of more than 1,200 people.
