Heffel, with paintings such as Emily Carr's Alert Bay Burial Ground pegged with a high estimate of $1.2 million, and Quebec abstractionist Jean Paul Riopelle's Sans Titre (Composition #2) with a high estimate of $1.5 million, calls even those estimates "conservative," in keeping with the financial climate.
