Exhibition Description:

Marcus Jansen's unique style, which he calls 'modern urban expressionism', is a combination of his own diverse life experiences, expressionism, abstract expressionism and graffitti art, the roots of which originate from Germany.

On the 21st of June his work will be bringing a new life to the walls of the Yeiser Art Center in Kentucky.

Education and Training:

Marcus Jansen was born in New York City to his West Indie and German immigrant parents in 1968, he received his art education in Germany and served for seven years in the US armed forces. He has been exposed to various cultures throughout his life, having travelled extensively throughout West and East Europe, with stations in SE and SW Asia.

Jansen has been awarded his place in Who's Who in American Art, Visual Art and International Art alongside some of the most noteworthy men and women in today's art world.

While growing up, he learned to speak fluent English, German and converstaional Dutch and had his first exhibition at the Lever House in New York at the age of six. Jansen's works can be found in various Museum collections, such as the Smithsonian Institution, Taiwan Museum of Fine Art and the Moscow Museum of Art.

There is a demeanor to his work that leaves the viewer wanting to explore the various layers. Jansen has participated in 16 solo exhibitions and over 30 group shows throughout his career spanning Germany, France, Italy, the US and beyond.
