Exhibition Description:

In this Solo Exhibtion, the lack of colour, conspicuous in its absence, accentuates shape and tonal contrast. Cobus van Bosch explores the fascinating geometry of two urban landscapes in South Africa – Cape Town (where he lives) and Johannesburg – and that of Paris, where he enjoyed a residency at the Cite Internationale des Arts in 2005.

Description:

This Cape Town Artist uses the concept that the mathematics of fractal geometry applies not only to nature – where things are made up of similar-looking smaller things – but also to many artificial structures. van Bosch uses various geometric elements which seem to repeat themselves, regardless of scale. Whether observed from a distance of several kilometres or from street level, a similarity in form often appears in cities – squares, rectangles, triangles, circles and spheres.
