Exhibition Description:

An ambitious show of mixed media painting and sculpture by artists Mars1 and David Choong Lee.

Lee arrived from Seoul, Korea in 1993, with little money or knowledge of English. Surprisingly, given this dire situation, he found a way to study art while living downtown among homeless people, who became his source of inspiration, resulting in some moving portraiture and works.

Lee's work has evolved over the years in exciting ways and his love for painting and underground music have seen him embrace the local art scene, language and culture with fervent enthusiasm. He has been sharing his wealth of knowledge, experience and skill as a teacher at S.F. Academy of Art University.

Mars' art has spread across a diverse territory from spray painting graffiti when he was a young teenager to creating a series of wonderfully, strange vinyl figures that are exhibited internationally.

Mars paints other worlds using his personal contemplation/meditation. Then without a specific plan creates exquisitely detailed paintings which range from unique abstraction to spacey, science fiction type landscapes. He draws from influences ranging from the Hudson River School and elements of graffiti art, Japanese animation and of course science fiction and space.

Both artists actively show internationally.
