Exhibition Description:

The title of the work is composed of a number of cultural allusions; Black Narcissus is a direct reference to the 1947 film of the same title by Michael Powell and Emeric
Pressburger, a sumptuous and extravagant story of repression, sexual awakening and
temptation.

Education and Training:

Richard Patterson was born 1963. He graduated from Goldsmiths in 1986. Group
exhibitions have included Freeze, Surrey Docks, London (1988); Sensation: Young
British Artists from the Saatchi Collection and Royal Academy of Arts
