Exhibition Description:

At the young age of 21, Vhils has created a huge and breathtaking body of work, both in the street and in the gallery. He started with writing graffiti in Lisbon at the age of 13, and is now becoming the next big thing in the Portuguese contemporary art scene.

Vhils continues to broaden his horizons by delving in to research and experimentation with unique mediums and techniques. His most recent work involves the process of reverse stenciling, using corrosives to carve beautifully intricate portraits in to weathered and rusted metal panels. By taking inspiration from the homeless and poverty stricken, Vhils work is very closely connected to the social and physical environment of Lisbon.
