Since 1995, Juan Manuel Echavarría's disturbingly beautiful videos and photographs address the dread and human waste of the endless drug war in Colombia where the army, the guerillas and paramilitaries perpetuate the cycle of violence.

Description:

Echavarría was born in Medellín, Colombia. He lives and works in New York and Bogotá. He has exhibited extensively through Latin America, Europe and the United States. This is his second solo show at Josée Bienvenu gallery. Juan Manuel Echavarría's work is included in prestigious collections such as: The Goetz Collection, Fundacion Cisneros, The Daros Collection; Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires; Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogota; The North Dakota Museum Art.
